Aberdeenshire UNISON supports the WASPI campaign

On Friday 26^th May, Aberdeenshire UNISON members joined women from WASPI (Women Against State Pensions Inequality) on stalls at Woodhill House and Gordon House, to highlight the unfairness in the changes to state pensions for women born in the 1950s and to call for fair transitional arrangements to be made.

Lewis Macdonald, Labour MSP pledges support to WASPI

UNISON is strongly supporting the WASPI campaign as it affects a lot of our members now and in the future.

UNISON activists Kathleen Kennedy and Morag Lawrence, along with Local Organiser Ann McEvoy and WASPI women were joined at the Woodhill House stall by Labour MSP, Lewis Macdonald, and by Labour general election candidates, Orr Vinegold (Aberdeen North) and Kirsten Muat (Gordon). All pledged support for the WASPI campaign.

In Gordon House, UNISON’s Ann Gray was joined by the SNP candidate for Gordon, Alex Salmond, who also pledged his full support.

Aberdeenshire Branch AGM 18th Feb 2015 - PLEASE NOTE NEW ARRANGEMENTS

Aberdeenshire Branch 2015 AGM will be held on Wed 18th February as two meetings this year, the first in Committee Room 4 in Woodhill House from 12-2pm; the second in the Kintore Arms, Inverurie from 7pm-9pm. (Buffet from 6.30pm)

Tea, coffee and a buffet will be available at both events.

Dave Watson, UNISON's Scottish Organiser for Bargaining and Campaigns will speak at both meetings on pensions, the Ethical Care Charter etc.

This will also be your chance to hear what the Branch has been doing and to have a say in how the Branch is run.

Branch AGM says “We’re Worth it”

Members at the 2014 AGM threw their weight behind actions to protect members in the workplace and to support their standards of living at a time of cuts and change for the workforce in the council and the voluntary sector.

The AGM unanimously supported calls to campaign for affordable housing and for decent pay, alongside measures to monitor the effect of cuts and to press for fairer funding for local government. Members heard of the new threats to social workers and others working to protect children; and of the unreasonable expectations on some of our lowest paid staff to administer medications to children.

Members vote 94% to 6% to accept new Scottish Local Government Pension Scheme

UNISON members in Scotland have voted overwhelmingly to accept the new LGPS scheme in the ballot which closed today.    
       
The result was 94% to accept and 6% to reject.

UNISON will now sign the Heads of Agreement this month and move onto the detailed work on the regulations and the outstanding issues.

UNISON Scotland to ballot members on new Local Government Pension Scheme with recommendation to accept

Ballot papers will be sent out to members who are conditioned to the Scottish Local Government Pension Scheme on 16 October with a closing date of 10am on 7 November 2013.
Any member who does not receive a ballot paper should contact UNISON Direct on 0845 355 0845.

UNISON is recommending that members vote to Accept the current proposals.

There will also be an explanatory leaflet that outlines the proposals. A copy of this leaflet is on the UNISON Scotland website along with the draft Heads of Agreement and other materials.
